The issue of sexuality is to be found by children and young people at every single step, be it in magazines, on television, on posters or billboards, and their knowledge about the topic is yet often vague. Nevertheless, nowadays they need detailed answers to their questions concerning love and sexual desire. Through our sexually educative program we are supporting girls and boys on their way to a determined and responsible sexuality. We are offering them comprehensive information topics such as contraception, AIDS and pregnancy. And we are also taking the time to talk with them - about sex, about feelings and relations. The educational concept developed by us is intercultural and sex conscious. We work with various media and methods and hold ready a large selection of illustrative material. All our employees within the sexual education department have, apart from a degree in Pedagogy, also certified advanced trainings in sexual education of at least 1.5 years, as well as professional experience of several years in the domain.

Which special contents, methods or approaches are there as far as multicultural groups are concerned?
Yes. "Body, senses, sexuality", "Obstructed love", "Teenager pregnancies", "Intercultural sexual education" - to these and to many other topics we are offering extra occupational advanced training for university students as well as colleagues from the educational domain. To some extent our offers address specifically individual professional groups, for instance educators in Kitas (day-care facilities for children). These advanced trainings are being often booked by teams. In the case of some particular meetings and seminars the topic conflates different professions altogether.
School classes and groups of young people are cordially invited to catch a glimpse themselves of the atmosphere in the Family Planning Center. We inform them about our broad spectrum of offers and gladly answer all their questions. It is frequently the case that boys and girls have different needs and interests; therefore we consider it appropriate to divide the groups on-site. The boys are regularly being attended to by a male pedagogue; meanwhile a female pedagogue cares for the group of girls. These attendance sessions take place without the company of instructors and educators.
In case you need to have an overview of our sexual educational support, you have the possibility to take a look at the games, films, books and further detailed materials you can find in our center. In addition, we are organizing – at irregular intervals – film visualization, as well as game markets, in order to present the multiplexed current activity support. As far as the projects about contraception are concerned, we always hold in readiness our "contraceptive means suitcase", which can also be borrowed. It contains all the conventional contraceptives as well as informational material for illustrative demonstration. Moreover, we are putting at your disposal the Family Planning Center’s own publications to the topics: first visit to the gynaecologist, teenager pregnancy and abortion. Besides, a Reader containing texts written by women from different countries about sexuality has been compiles and commented by us. I think my penis is much too small! - There are particular questions and problems, which boys and girls would not like to address and discuss in the group. It is precisely for them that we organize individual and confidential counselling in our center.
Yes! Starting from birth, children feel the need for care, tenderness and body contact. Girls and boys discover their own bodies and that of the others, experience their environment with all senses, feel joy and desire, but at the same time also fear, shame and uncertainty. In dealing with other people, they become acquainted with their own borders as well as with the borders of others.
Parents experience daily different forms of expression of their children’s sexuality, e.g. questions placed directly after the procreation of their children, masturbation in public, doctor games. All these belong to the healthy and unconstrained development of any child.

In their daily activity, pedagogues are being confronted in various ways with questions concerning sexuality. It is not always simple for them to constantly provide the right answers and to react professionally. Sometimes it is exactly the cultural background of the young people playing an important role as far as their questions to sexuality are concerned.
We inform and advise social pedagogues, educators, teachers and other colleagues who are interested in this respect - in meetings, seminars or in individual discussions. And we also offer the possibility for reflection, which is often missing out in the daily activity.
